Status: Open – special regulations apply

Hunting is allowed, but refuge-specific rules apply in addition to California regulations. Typical special regulations include limited species or seasons, quota/lottery permits, weapon restrictions (e.g. archery or shotgun only), shooting-hour limits, blind or stand rules and restricted access.

Refuge permit required. Type: Signed Brochure or Similar. Obtain via: Kiosk, Mail.

Hunting on opening weekend requires hunters who have been selected via a Service run drawing to receive a permit. After opening weekend, there is a self check in/out permit for hunting which is available at the three hunt parking lots.

🧒 A special waterfowl hunt and pheasant hunt are held each fall for youth hunters.
