Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge is located in Barbour County, Alabama, with about 24 acres of land owned in fee by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Its lands extend into Georgia. Hunting at Eufaula NWR

Hunters can pursue big game, waterfowl, migratory birds, small game, and feral & exotic here, subject to state seasons and refuge-specific rules. Fishing is available — freshwater fishing. A refuge permit is required for at least some activities, in addition to your state license.

Hunters can pursue a variety of game species here, but the quota waterfowl hunts remain the most popular draw. Hunters travel from as far away as Montgomery, Atlanta and Tallahassee to hunt waterfowl at Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge.

Fishing at Eufaula NWR

Over 4,500 acres of Lake Eufaula (Walter F. George Reservoir) lie within refuge boundaries. Year-round fishing is allowed. Refuge impoundments also are open to fishing. The most common species include largemouth bass, catfish, crappie and bream.

State fishing licenses and regulations apply. Some waters close seasonally to protect wildlife.
