Hunting at Horicon NWR

Hunters can pursue big game, waterfowl, wild turkey, upland birds, migratory birds, and small game here, subject to state seasons and refuge-specific rules. Fishing is available — freshwater fishing. A refuge permit is required for at least some activities, in addition to your state license.

The 33,000-acre Horicon Marsh is divided into Horicon National Wildlife Refuge (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) and Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources).

Fishing at Horicon NWR

Fishing is available for yellow perch, carp, bullhead and northern pike. Boating is allowed only at the Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area at the southern end of Horicon Marsh.
