Hunting at Muleshoe NWR

Permitted hunting categories are big game, upland birds, migratory birds, and feral & exotic, subject to state seasons and refuge-specific rules. A refuge permit is required for at least some activities, in addition to your state license.

Established in 1935, Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge is the oldest national wildlife refuge in Texas. Most of the short-grass prairie habitat has never seen a plow and stands today as it did hundreds of years ago.
