Hunting at Rappahannock River Valley NWR

Hunting opportunities include big game, waterfowl, wild turkey, and small game, subject to state seasons and refuge-specific rules. Fishing is available — freshwater fishing. A refuge permit is required for at least some activities, in addition to your state license.

Fishing is available year round at our Hutchinson, Laurel Grove, and Wilna Units. (Cat Point Creek will be open in the near future). State regulations are enforced and use of live minnows for bait and lead sinkers are prohibited.

State fishing licenses and regulations apply. Some waters close seasonally to protect wildlife.
