Hunting at Fort Niobrara NWR

Permitted hunting categories are big game, waterfowl, wild turkey, upland birds, migratory birds, small game, and feral & exotic, subject to state seasons and refuge-specific rules. Fishing is available — freshwater fishing and shellfishing & crabbing. A refuge permit is required for at least some activities, in addition to your state license.

Fishing is permitted on refuge portions of Minnechaduza Creek and downstream from Cornell Dam along the Niobrara River. The river through the refuge is not known as a high-value fishery.
