Hunting at Holt Collier NWR

Hunters can pursue big game, waterfowl, small game, and feral & exotic here, subject to state seasons and refuge-specific rules. Fishing is available — freshwater fishing. A refuge permit is required for at least some activities, in addition to your state license.

Holt Collier, one of this country’s most legendary hunters ever, roamed the swamps of Mississippi in pursuit of bear. Collier guided many famous hunters, including President Theodore Roosevelt, who considered Collier the greatest hunter he ever met.
